Sunday School

Hello again, this is Bob Perez.

Well, it has been nearly two months with our new church and we have good weeks and bad weeks as far as attendance goes, but it is definitely a learning process.

We are actually launching our first Sunday School class tomorrow for the kids and we will be headed into the book of John.  So please pray for Michele as she will be leading it and it is our VERY first time doing anything Sunday School related!!  Blessings…….

Miracles

Hello again, this is Bob Perez.

I have been super busy managing a team of young people that are here from Nebraska and boy am I spent physically.  I have these kids running all day long and I am sooooooo tired!!

We have had some good times playing with kids, hanging out and just watching God move.  Two nights ago during a healing crusade we held, God showed up to heal.  One ladies eyes were healed and we had her count fingers to prove the miracle and the next day she came to church WITHOUT glasses!!  Then a woman with pain in her back began to jump and bend over saying it felt better.  Some ten minutes later she came running to me saying that she could breathe better as well.

To God be the glory.  We had an incredible time and with three more days left, I pray it happens again.  I am also plannng to schedule, by faith, another healing crusade tomorrow night.  So friends, we need God! because I nor the kids can heal, so please be in prayer with us and lets see some mighty miracles.  We have seen many addicted to drugs (Kids, moms, dads) alcohol (kids, moms, dads) and some of the most extreme poverty conditions.  We have been painting houses and meeting practical needs as well and it is our prayer that Jesus be glorified in all that we do.

Volcano Eruption

Please be advised that we are in no way affected by the Volcano eruption in Southern Chile. Our country is very long and so there is no pending threat here in Santiago. Thank you!! :)

You want to fish?

So what is church all about anyway? It’s about Jesus!! It’s so easy to be caught up in our Christian world that we forget all about the non-christian world and that is 100% contrary to the Gospel (Matt 16:15).

Recently I have begun to work in a church here in Santiago that is going through some pretty tough challenges and in the service tonight, we had a challenge to go outside and bring a visitor in church within 15 minutes.

I thought to myself, yeah right, I can’t do that, BUT, I went outside and saw a young man who I invited and he really seemed interested. I introduced myself and told him it would be a pleasure to have him join us and with the help of another friend, can you believe “HE CAME INTO CHURCH!”

Just like that, WOW!! Now I did not tell you about my other failed attempts, for example, I stopped one guy on a bike and he literally said “&*$%^…….. , leave me alone”. I’ll leave the intepretation to you, but it was super vulgar and I learned a new word I did not know prior to that encounter :) I could have given up, but friends, through teamwork, through perseverance, two new people came in and heard the Gospel and who knows, maybe they’ll be back in church tommorrow. To God be the Glory!!!

Caught in a RIOT

Hello again, this is Michele.

Tonight was a really scary night for the girls and I.  Bob has been away for 3 days at a General Council Conference in the South so that means that I have been holding down the fort and tonight I found myself caught in the middle of a pretty bad protest right in the heart of our little community of Penalolen,

Every year in Chile a group called “Jovenes Combatientes” (the day is called “Dia del joven combatiente) protest because several years ago a teenager was killed by police officers.  These protest are not peaceful in any way, shape or form.  As I made a left onto the main road I noticed that there were news cameras and lots of people standing around.  As I continued to drive down the road I was surprised to see a huge army tank on the road and about 15-20 police officers armed with riot gear and wearing army fatigues.  Priscilla and Isabella were sitting in the back seat and as I quickly realized what was going on I immediately began to pray out load.  Silla was very frightened as the teenagers began to throw things at our vehicle and she also saw trash cans in the middle of the road that the teenagers had filled and lit on fire.

I knew that I had to get off of that road as quickly as possible so I put the pedal to the metal and sped through praying the whole time.  I picked up the teenager and rerouted my way through the city trying to avoid as many of the main streets as possible.  It took twice as long to get home, but amazingly I did not get lost and we made it home very frightened but unharmed!   I know that we made it home safely tonight because of all of your constant prayers for our family.  Thank you family for keeping us before the throne!

I checked the newspaper and it says:
1 dead
232 arrested including 74 minors
8 officers wounded

Here is the full story:  They targeted this area and it says Penalolen in the article!
They even have a short video with the action on this website

Vacation Bible School

Today was wonderful. My two little girls came home from church and said “Dad, we had our best day yet in Chile and we had a lot of fun”.

Priscilla has been on vacation for 3 months and they are bored stiff!!! We do not have many friends here yet because I have been traveling all over the place preaching as an evangelist and it has been difficult to make friends. So for the first time since arriving, my girls had a chance to play all day with other kids and just be kids themselves!!

Now I am sure there are people who ask the questions, “Is it worth it to offer my time for VBS, teach Sunday school, rush home and eat a quick meal to help out in church?”

Friend, !!ABSOLUTELY!! You never know when and who you will touch, but someone, somewhere needs YOU!! Today, my girls were touched in an incredible way because a few folks were willing to give their time for service to the king in a practical way…. So I just want to thank God because while we spend our time ministering and evangelizing, God saw fit to work it in his schedule to meet my two little girls in a special way. Friend, you never know!! God works in and thru peoples lives even when they have no idea.

So before you make a hasty decision today, just remember, Someone somewhere is waiting for you!! Just ask my 4 and 8 yr old who were immensely blessed today in a VBS in Santiago, Chile.

Como amaneciste tu?

Hello again, this is Bob Perez.

One of the most popular frases in Central America is “Como amaneciste”, or “How’d you wake up this am?.

For me, I am at my PC, it is now 7:08am and it is pitch black outside, WOW!! We are getting into the thick of winter and IT IS COLD!! But thank God, we have finally moved into our house and do not have to worry about the apartment building turning off the hot water and heat, AMEN! I am also becoming accustomed to a new preaching style: gloves, scarf, and coat. It sounds wierd but when it feels like 25 in the church, you would do almost anything to stay warm :)

I want to take this opportunity to ask you to pray for us. I have been preaching and beginning to build Chilean relationships among the Pastorship here, but am seeking God’s direction as to where we are going to plant roots. With 6,000,000 inhabitants, the potential is quite large, but one needs to be in God’s plan to achieve God’s results! So as we wade thru the waters here and pinpoint our finger on where the Lord wants us to setup camp, please pray with us that when the Lord speaks, we will “HEAR”.

Also, on another note, please continue to pray for our finances as we still have a few years left in Chile and it has become apparent quite quickly that we were under-budgeted considerably and also due to shortages on NJ STL funds, we have had to pay quite a bit extra for our car which set us back even further. So if God lays on your heart to help with a financial gift, we would GREATLY appreciate it and would even encourage you to help us as we advance forward for the King. If you would like to also support us, you can find out how at http://whowillgo.net/support.html or you can send me an e-mail @ Perez@whowillgo.net.

So friends, thanks so much for all you do and until next time, “Be Blessed”.. Chau..
