As I have always shared, Chile is a late night country. They love to have late night events and last night was no different.
Michele was scheduled to speak for a ladies meeting in a dangerous neighborhood and to tell you the truth, I was a little nervous letting her go out there. The ladies meeting did not start until 9:00pm and it is was in a drug rampant area filled with crime. But when God calls, you go, and so I had to let her go trusting that He would take care of her.
The meeting got under way @ 9:00pm on a Monday night and did not get over until 11:00pm!! On a weeknight!! WOW!! She did a great job from what what I heard and she was pleased with her Spanish so praise the Lord. BUT, 11pm, on a weeknight.
The truth is that this is actually quite common and most people are very much accustomed with it and have no problem with late night events. For example, if you invite people over your house for lunch at 2:00pm, expect that they will be there until at-least 10-11pm. This has been one of my most challenging cultural adjustments and I even have to schedule naps on certain days so I can stay longer at events and not be the sleepy American
So pray for me, a 30-year habit of going to bed at a normal hour and getting up early is not a habit that is easily broken overnight. So until next time, have a good night sleep.
